Staging a Bedroom to Appeal to Buyers (it's not about the Sellers)
When we stage a home, the goal is to appeal to the target buyer of that property. Our staging company asks both the listing agent and the seller who the likely buyer of the home might be, and then decide how to stage it to appeal to that buyer.
A recent project involved a townhouse in a Portland suburb. The price point and the neighborhood demographics supported that the likely buyer of this home would be a young, 30's couple, and we wanted the master bedroom to be appealing to them.
Here are a few Before & After photos of the master bedroom ... the "before" photos are how this home was shown in the MLS photos online, before we did our magic:
What we did: Placing the bed on the wall, rather than in front of the windows, was a better configuration since it made the space seem much larger. Replacing the tired oak furniture with current, espresso pieces and adding fun silver lamps and fresh contemporary bedding fit the style and "vibe" of this townhome. Finally, replacing the lifeless window coverings with contemporary panels that coordinated with the bedding was the icing on the cake, so to speak.

The overall effect was a much younger, contemporary feel for this room, and it DID appeal to the buyers ... a young newly-married couple!
