If you're a fulltime stager like me, chances are you eat, sleep, and live home staging! It's the career I've chosen after several other fullfilling ones, and one that I really love and appreciate.
The thing is ... sometimes I dream about home staging, and often it's about homes that I haven't even seen yet. I wonder, could these dreams be a premonition of jobs to come?
Sometimes when I wake up, I'm wondering ... did I stage that house yesterday, or did I just dream that I did?
DOES THIS EVER HAPPEN TO YOU? Do we need to seek professional help or start a support group? :-))

Maureen, I admire your calling. I know how important staging is, and it is frustrating when clients don't want to spend the money and instead say they can do it themselves. It usually doesn't work out too well.
Maureen - You've got your support group right here :) As far as I can tell dreams just pick up where our consciousness leaves off at night.
I hope your clients appreciate all the extra hours you're putting in! ;)
Wish all those hours were billable! Happy Dreams
Liz ~ It's so nice to hear another Realtor validating the idea of home staging -- thanks for dropping by with your comment. Sellers "doing it themselves" isn't the same thing at all.
Tessa ~ That's one of the best things about AR -- we can bounce ideas off each other and share in our triumphs as well as disappointments ...
Donna ~ Oh, I wish that too -- we'd be wealthy!! Thanks for joining in.
Maureen, love the cartoon, clever you. I don't remember dreams about staging but I do sometimes have nightmares about teaching...days past. I seriously rely on dreamcatchers to make them all go away so that I can get a better nights sleep.
Maureen, I wake up during the night before a staging day thinking, "oh no, what if _____"--just fill in the blank since I've worried about it all at some point or another! Agree with Donna on billable hours!
Too funny, and yet, sadly - too true!
Yes, and they are usually nightmares. I always think I left a house without leaving a key piece of furniture like a sofa! I also have the recurring dream I never really graduated college and have to go back to the ole sorority house and they are all so much younger, and then I wake up...still not graduating in my dream!
Ginger ~ Between staging, watching staging shows on HGTV, and reading blogs here on AR ... maybe I'm overdosing on staging and my mind is telling me it needs a break at night LOL. Maybe I'll have to try a dreamcatcher .... thanks for the tip.
Holly ~ Glad to hear I'm not the only one! There are so many details to keep track of though aren't there?
Jane ~ It really is sad and funny at the same time. I don't see it going away soon either .... oh well.
Cindy ~ Going back to college? Now that WOULD be a nightmare!! That is hysterical.
This post is sssssssssssssssoooooooooooooooooooooooo fun, and funny, cute and clever, my dear!
I do this all the time. Just woke up from one of those dreamy nightmares! LOL -- You just started my day out great as I head to Atlanta to stage a vacant condo!
Too funny Maureen! At least when we are dreaming about it that means we are getting sleep. I think sometimes we lose a little sleep on some of those challenging projects. Sweet Dreams!
Karen ~ Well I love your enthusiasm and I'm glad my "dreamy nightmares" aren't that abnormal! Hope your vacant staging is a blast.
Michele ~ You made a great point .... at least dreaming means we're getting some sleep! :-)
YES! While it doesn't happen to homes I've never seen (yet) I do dream about the ones I will be staging. I even get some better ideas in my dreams too & they work! There is power in those dreams Maureen - no professional help needed, just keep a pencil and pad next to your bed! =)
I don't think it's abnormal at all. We all know what you mean and have all been there. I also confuse the details of different houses. After a while they tend to all run together in my memory.
Very cute cartoon Maureen, It just proves how dedicated you are about getting it all right. Can you take a goof off day? I highly recommend it ;)
Karen ~ Dreams can be very powerful, I agree. Now to get that pen and notebook ....
Sharon ~ It's good to know that others have been there too.
Cynthia ~ I love taking days off and do it regularly -- yes!
Ha! I love your cartoon for this post, too! I don't remember that this happened to me about decorating or staging, but I remember waking up one morning and I was mad at my husband because of something he did in my dream. So, I believe it happens!
Kathy ~ It was fun finding a cartoon that I could color in & add text to ... maybe you'll dream about finding your new home & can share the adventure with us!
I'm still with Cindy, though not even at graduation. My recurring dream is usually of having to takethe exam when I haven't attended one class... not one ... for a particular subject. I guess I'm still feeling guilty about that B in American History that I got by giving my professor free tickets to my play.
You really are the pro's pro, Maureen. Delightfully so. Have you ever written a Day in the Life post? I'd love to know how you balance staging with marketing with invoicing with... all of it really.
Hi Juliet ~ I wouldn't worry about a 'B' in American History xx number of years ago LOL!
Thanks for your confidence in my juggling ability. Since my kids are grown it's a bit easier now ... guess I've earned the right to devote time to my favorite passion -- home staging and everything connected to it!
I do sometimes dream about projects in progress, especially when I go to sleep thinking about them. So far, no homes we haven't done yet. My worst dreams are ones where I find I'm on stage in front of an audience and find that I haven't learned any of my lines, or that my costume is incomplete -- sometimes very incomplete. They're awful! Makes me glad to wake up...
Laurie ~ I dream about current projects sometimes too and wake up in the middle of the night saying "Oh, I'd better bring another chair tomorrow .... " Are you an actress?
Maureen, back in my past I did my share of performing in musicals and operettas, and was part of an opera chorus. That I still dream about it all these years later surprises me. It sure was fun.
Laurie -- that sounds like fun! It seems perfectly logical that a performer would have some anxiety about being in front of an audience, even if it's only in a dream.
It is fun, Maureen, and yes, very stressful, especially when you really have blanked out in front of an audience. Maybe it isn't a surprise that I'm still dreaming about it years (okay, decades) later.
Yes, I live, eat and dream staging.
Yes, I stage homes in my sleep.
Yes, sometimes they are houses that I didn't work on.
Virginia ~ It sounds like you have the same bug that others of us suffer from. Hooe you get some sleep!
Maureen, Yes! I do have dreams about houses, and then months or even years later, I see them in waking hours. It only lasts for a few seconds, but I remember it from a dream. I have the same recurring dream about a house with an indoor pool, and one with an all-white bathroom, and one at the end of a cul-de-sac. I still have yet to see those.
If only we could make money off of our premonitions!
