An Oregon Bank believes in Home Staging for their Foreclosed Properties

More banks should consider home staging for their foreclosed properties in order to ensure that the home looks its very best for potential buyers who view it online and in person.  One of our local banks has found that staging their foreclosures is a much faster way to SELL them.

This stunning Portland-area home was on the market for 2 years as a vacant property by the builder, and it didn't sell.  No one has ever lived in it.  The bank then got involved and hired my Portland-based home staging company to stage it.  We've successfully staged multiple homes for them over the past year or two, and all of them have sold quickly after staging, even though they'd been on the market for up to three years.  This smart bank not only believes in staging but also improves and maintains the landscaping and has these foreclosed homes professionally cleaned until they're SOLD.  Their commitment to quality is remarkable!

Here are some Before & After photos of this custom-built home;  before staging, there just isn't anything to make you feel that it's a warm and inviting place to call "Home."  Our goal was for buyers to be able to appreciate it's best features.

It seems that if more banks would stage their foreclosure inventory that neighborhoods would be improved, buyers would find great deals, and everyone would be better off.  We hope that home staging becomes a trend with more banks across the country.               (Photos by Room Solutions Staging)

Maureen....GREAT example of how Banks could learn how to better market foreclosed homes!  Hope more & more Banks take this approach!

That's excellent.

Yes, more banks should consider it.  They'll probably net more proceeds by doing it.

Your photos are great, by the way.

I've worked with a mortgage company with geat success, house had been on the market a year, 5000sf, brand new, and we staged it, sold in 2 weeks.

Hi Kathy ~ I hope so too -- they would be smart to consider staging to improve the appeal of their foreclosures.

Hi Ralph ~ The longer the home sits unsold, the longer the bank is out their investment in the property.  Thanks for your feedback and for your nice compliment on my photos.

Hi Cindy ~ That's fantastic!  Good for them for being smart enough to hire you! Feel free to contact me with any questions, of course I'll be happy to help.

I assume they restrict this to properties that are in good shape.

Posted by Jim Hale - On the MOVE for You! Eugene - Springfield Oregon Real Estate (ACTIONAGENTS.NET) about 2 years ago

Hi Jim ~ Actually all of these foreclosures are new construction that never sold.  Some of them needed painting but only because they'd been lingering on the market for 2 or 3 years.

Hi Marianne ~ Thanks for taking the time to comment.  I consider myself lucky to be able to do what I love!

Hi Mary Lou ~ This was a large house ... so finding furniture with the proper scale was important.

Hi Al ~ Your feedback is appreciated!

Hi Shirley ~ More banks should try staging their foreclosed homes .... they'll likely sell faster.  Thanks for stopping by.

What a smart bank for two reasons: 1) staging and 2) choosing Maureen Bray, Portland Oregon's best home stager!

Woo Hooo!  Smart Bank for finding a Professional Home Stager to help them sell their properties!!  What a happy RE Market it would be if all the banks were as smart as your Client!  You go Girl!

Wow - it's like night and day, literally. The addition of the lighting makes for such a more welcoming environment. I particularly love the track lighting. Fabulous!

Posted by Cari Anderson about 2 years ago

Maureen- you literally gave life to that home!  One of my first vacant home stagings was a bank foreclosure and everyone was surprised that the institution would make the investment.  I'm with you; wouldn't it be great for all if more banks would "see the light".

Hi Kathy N. ~ Thanks for the feature and for saying my client is smart!!  :-)

Hi Janice ~ Don't we wish they'd all do that?  Maybe someday ....

Hi Cari ~ A staged home will show buyers the warmth that's already there -- we just bring it out.  Thanks for your feedback.

Hi Kathy S. ~ I'm so glad to hear that Florida has smart banks too!!  Smart enough to stage them with a professional stager.

Maureen,

Awesome before and afters.  Sounds like you found the one bank in America that doesn't have their heads up their you know whats!  Great job!!!

I know they have been a good client for you.  I hope other banks in the area follow their lead.  It makes nothing but sense.  Banks don't want to be in the real estate business, but the market has forced them to.  Investing in staging will help them move their properties much quicker as you have demonstrated.

Hi Cathy ~ Thank you!  I so enjoy doing projects for this client because they're so professional and successful.

Hi Brian ~ They know that presenting these homes to appeal to today's buyers gets them sold.  Thanks for your comment.

Hi David ~ I hope more local banks follow their example too .. maybe they'll start a trend!

Smart bank indeed!   Smart choice of stager too!!  Excellent work Maureen.   Congratulations.

Your work is a great advertisement why banks should do this. I have gotten the "people break in" and "upkeep" roadblocks thrown out when I have attempted to market to agents who handle foreclosures and also the condition of many are bad.  Congrats on your sucess with it.

Hi Michele ~ One of the nicest compliments is when they come from my peers -- thank you!

Hi Ana ~ Don't give up -- there are home stagers around the country working with banks to improve the appeal of foreclosures.  The smart banks are all doing it :-)

Hi Cindy ~ Thank you -- but there are some excellent stagers in the Dallas area -- did you check right here on A/R?  I know they'd be able to help you ....

WOW!! It looks amazing!  Your furniture selection has made it impossible to guess that this is a foreclosure.  Great work Maureen :)

Maureen,

The bank is so lucky to have found your company.  You do amazing work.  That house looks gorgeous.

Posted by Chrissie Sutherland (Ready Set Stage) about 2 years ago

hi Cindy ~ These foreclosed homes are all high-end properties just waiting for a lucky buyer to find them ... thanks for your feedback.

Hi Chrissie ~ I'm lucky they found me too!  :-)  They called today with another one for me -- twice as big as this one!

Maureen, these are fabulous photos!  I love what you did with this home!  It looks perfect!  I hope more banks start catching on.  There are some gorgeous homes out there that just need a little love :-)

Hi Michele ~ Thanks so much for your feedback.  I too hope that more banks catch on to the fact that staged homes are so much more inviting to potential buyers than vacant ones that need some love ....
