Room Solutions Staging in Portland OR was recently selected to stage a charming vintage 1941 home. The homeowner first contacted us to ask for a Consultation report and we provided a detailed "To Do" list of cosmetic repairs that we felt were necessary to make this home market-ready. After he completed his work, we came back to stage this vacant home. We staged the main impact rooms to emphasize the focal points in each room as well as to make it appealing to the target buyer. Here are a few Before & After shots ...

Hi Maureen,
The preparation before staging is like laying the foundation. (Did I say like? Like in Valley Girl like?) The work we do consulting with the seller can make or break the whole process.
This is such a good example of what can be accomplished when everyone works together. BTW I especially like the artwork over the fireplace and the way it echoed the pattern in the rug.
Beautifully done Maureen! It sure helps to have some teamwork, huh?
Wow, what a difference. Guess I really need to get that spec home staged. This may be the push I needed. Thanks!
Great Example and it looks great!
Good Luck on the sales!
Thanks

Susan ~ Like, thanks for your comment! I know you always partner with your sellers to make each project shine like a gem .... you have a sharp eye to notice the rug pattern in the living room.
Kent ~ Yes, teamwork can make or break the whole project! Thanks for stopping by.
Terri ~ Run to find your nearest professional home stager for that spec house! Then let us know how it comes out.
Tom ~ Thanks for your feedback. The seller and broker are hoping for a quick sale.
Maureen - What a beautiful staging job! I love the colors too.
Fantastic job Maureen! I especially like what you did in the family room. Lovely furniture choices!
Maureen, I love the living room. I too noticed the same pattern in the artwork and rug. Everything really flows well, great colors. I love the style of this home. Isn't it fun to work with something other than those "cookie cutter" type homes. When you actually have some features to highlight!
Maureen ~ Great job! I love the artwork over the fireplace, I love the way it picks up the design in the area rug; the tray table in the dining room - I could go on and on!
Nice looking job. I will also say the home that you are working in had a lot of substance to begin with.
Wanda ~ Thanks, it was so rewarding to see the transformation in this home.
Michele ~ We used the furniture to highlight the large feature window and create an inviting mood....thanks for stopping by.
Donna ~ a home like this with interesting architectural details is so much fun to stage!
Kathy ~ When i saw that canvas piece at Pier 1, I knew it had to go over that fireplace. The rug helped tie it all together.
Jim ~ You're right -- the home is full of character that just needed bringing out a bit more to appeal to buyers. Thanks for your input.
Beautiful job, Maureen! I love the art above the fireplace...
Teresa
Teresa ~ That art made a dramatic statement and helped to balance the other side of the room. Thanks for commenting.
How great that you added a mantle for the fireplace! Each room seems larger too - Good luck with a quick sale! Julie
Julie ~ Adding that mantle made a big difference, didn't it? Thanks for your good wishes.
WOW Maureen, beautiful job! Love the colors and warmth. Keep sharing, the photos are great!
Your photos say it all -- am going to show this to a seller, and see if he's willing to "stage" his vacant home. It's a great location, but the home looks "sad", right now. thanks for sharing!
Hi MAUREEN!
What a lovely home. It looks like it was already very nice. You just really brought out the true beauty...icing on the cake. Great job.
Chris ~ Thanks for stopping by. Isn't it fun to see the changes?
Li ~ Oh, I hope your seller agrees to staging his vacant home -- it will make it come alive! Good luck!
Yvette ~ You're right, it was a lovely home to start with ... just needed some warmth. Thanks for your kind words.
Maureen
That is an amazing staging job!
I know sometimes however that when homes are staged, the potential buyers don't know , or even if they do know, that the staged items don't come with the home, they are seriously disappointed when the place reverts back to the unstaged condition.
Do you ever work with buyers to "stage" a move in?
The value of staging certainly increases the resale price of a home-so do some other home improvements. You can check them out at http://www.homesalemaximizer.com.
Louis
Hello Maureen, very neat home and you did a fantastic job matching the furnishings to the home. Just great looking. But then I would expect no less from you....
great example ... thanks for sharing the pics
Louis ~ I can't imagine a buyer thinking furnishings go with the sale of the home but I guess it might happen. We do indeed offer buyers a "move in" service where we place their furnishings, help decide what to put where, etc. Thanks for commenting.
Gary ~ It is a neat home as you say....and a pleasure to work with such a motivated seller. Thanks for your kind words!
Pippa ~ You're more than welcome!
It looks so warm and inviting, Maureen. You did a wonderful job.
Congratulations. Your post is being featured in the group; Staging Before & After Pictures.
Kathy
Maureen, I'm loving it ~ You did a fantastic job ~ Congrats!
Hi Maureen,
The rooms look great! You filled the rooms and yet they appear spacious.
That plant in the living room is HUGE! Is it real? (If so, who is going to water it?). Ditto for the tree in the dining room...real or artificial?
Super job and thanks for the 'plug' on behalf of all of us stagers!
Val
Maureen ~ You did an outstanding job on this house. It will not last long on the market. Congratulations
Looks like a nice place and the staging effectively made it so much more appealing.
Kathy ~ Thanks so much. The goal was to make the home inviting so I hope the buyers agree.
Tosha ~ So glad you liked it! Thanks for stopping by.
Hi Val ~ We tried to show the space and highlight each room's features with "just enough" furniture. Both the living and dining room trees are fakes! I'd love to use real ones but who has time to run around and water them? Thanks for your kind feedback.
Barbara ~ I hope you're right! Fingers are crossed for a sale before long.
Kathleen ~ You're right, these vintage homes have so much character. Staging them is really fun!
Congratulations on another stellar staging job and a great blog! I wish everyone here could see the lovely neighborhood that this home is in. Now when sellers drive up to the home, their anticipation as they go past nice places won't be met with disappointment when they walk through the door. The neighborhood, the curb appeal and the staging on this home make an unbeatable combination!
Every room is beautiful and looks so homey. The bedding in the master looks similiar to one I have :]
Kathy ~ Thanks for your enthusiastic feedback! Shall I reveal what a little bird told me? :-)
Ronelle ~ I bought that bedding to coordinate with the cranberry-colored tiles in the master bath .... here's a photo of it ...
Maureen,
What a beautiful vintage home and how wonderfully you enhanced it with your staging talent!
Beautiful job! May I move in?
Michelle ~ These older homes are such a pleasure to work with! They're just a different experience than the average 3 bedroom 2 bath plain old house we see more often.
Nicola ~ Oh -- after staging it we wanted to move in too. It's fun to fall in love with a home you just staged and I remember someone wrote a blog recently about not wanting to leave at the end of the staging day....
Great job Maureen!
Amber ~ Thank you .... this home was already appealing but staging it will help buyers to imagine living there.
The master bedroom looks so much larger after staging! By looking at just the before photos I wouldn't have thought the room could accommodate a queen sized bed. Now it is just enticing and spacious! How important is staging for a great MLS presence! Imperative!
Margaret ~ You're right, that master bedroom looks smallish in the Before picture. But even with a Queen bed and 2 PB nightstands, there's still a lot of room left! We need to show clients that staging makes a room appear bigger than when it's vacant. Thanks for your input.
Love the artwork and the tray in the dining room. Great idea. Great job.
Chrissie ~ thanks, the dining room tray has a few items that sometimes might be found on the dining table, but in this case I wanted the table to just have a centerpiece that coordinated with the art. (That large metal art by the way was a huge bargain at JCPenney! It was on clearance, reduced from $200 to $42 -- can't beat that!)
The features of this house were made even lovelier with your wonderful staging Maureen!
LOVELY, just lovely. It makes your job more fun when you have such good bones to work with, huh?
Karen ~ Thank you so much for your generous compliment!
TerryLynn ~ YES it's such fun when the house has charm and character to start with! Thanks for your feedback.
This house looks fantastic, what a difference. Great photos too. Do you take them, if so what kind of camera do you use?
Thanks Cindy! Yes, I did take these photos with my little reliable Kodak V705. I'm glad you enjoyed the B & A pics.
How funny, that's the camera that I use! For some reason, my flash doesn't fill in but I usually take night photos, because that's when I seem to finish. I've started going back and taking in the day after it's been staged, but I try to get the whole room and miss some of the details.
Maureen, you have the neatest houses to work on. We have nothing like that here in my part of FL, well not much anyway. I would kill to stage a vintage house. Another fabulous job!
Terry ~ We are indeed lucky in my area that we have so many styles of homes to work on .... vintage Craftsman and Victorian, mid-century modern, contemporary, traditional, etc. It's a stager's paradise ~ Thanks for stopping by!
Very nice, Maureen! I like it! I love the old houses.
Diane Concialdi
Hi Diane ~ Me too -- the older homes have so much charm that they are just a pleasure to stage. Thanks for stopping by.
The brown and blue combo in the living room turned out great!
Lisa ~ Thank you! I love that color combination too and it seemed a good fit for this home.
Nice job, especially like the faux in the dining room. It just makes you want to sit down and stay a while. That's the purpose and you achieved it. Good job.
Terrylynn ~ Thanks for stopping by -- your comments are always appreciated!
I LOVE that piece over the fireplace. Did you install the mantle or did the homeowner?? Great move on tying in the colors to match the tilework in bathroom. I have done that at times when tile cannot be changed then I say work with it. Beautiful job
Phyllis Pafumi
Great and masterful work as usual. Always the best of the best!
Phyllis ~ Thanks for your kind words.....I love that canvas over the fireplace too! The homeowner installed the mantle. You're right, sometimes we have to work with some of the existing fixed elements like the bathroom tile. In this case working with it rather than fighting it was the right choice.
Shannon ~ Why, thank you -- now I'm blushing -- it's so nice to hear from you!
Maureen,
What a beautiful work! I love the color palette and it so right for period homes. You are so good!
Josi ~ Thank you for your very kind remark. It was great to see you recently at our meeting, and we're glad to see you here in the "Rain" too!
Great job Maureen.. I love the transitional updated, yet simple look you gave to the rooms... Definately my style.. (and most buyers)!!!
Thanks Charles --- I love this transitional style too and you're right, it's appealing to many buyers. Thanks for your feedback.
Maureen, you did a great job with this project. I think this style could work almost anywhere. Lovely example of a staging job that is very well done.
(and isn't the shopping one of the fun parts of the job !!)
mk
Michelle ~ Thanks for your kind words. Most homes in my area look best with a transitional style of furniture like this one has. You're right about shopping being one of the most fun things we do! I hope that staging is keeping you busy in Montreal ... I went to my first year of college there and have many fond memories of that beautiful area!
