It's true -- sometimes bachelors really need our help! This condo had been on the market for 4 months with no offers .... so the seller contacted us for some staging advice. The condo was Staged and SOLD a short time after!
During our initial visit I advised him to paint the bathrooms. With dark blue walls & ceilings, and no windows or natural light, they felt like dark caves and needed lighter paint to brighten them ...

The master bedroom needed a few simple touches to make it more gender-neutral ...

The living room needed some furniture re-positioning to highlight the great views ...

The Dining area felt a little too stark for comfortable entertaining ....

This condo is in John's Landing, 3 minutes from downtown Portland with a great view of Mt. Hood!

Great job Maureen! You and those bachelor pads...lol...I think you are the Queen of home staging the majority of them!! Thanks for sharing...the sofa placement was a nice change and the bathroom looked so much brighter! Regards-Kathleen G
Maureen, This just really goes to show that it's not always what you add, but what you take away. The master is a great example of that. It looks like all you added was some greenery and art on the wall, other than that you removed items and it looks great.
BTW, I want to know where you are finding all these bachelors?
Kathleen ~ It's true that for some reason, a lot of my clients are bachelors ... funny, I hadn't really thought about that until today but now realize it's more than 50% of my business. Maybe it's because bachelors don't have the creative other half to help them make decisions? :-) Anyway it's a good feeling to help them! Thanks for stopping by.
Donna ~ You're so right, sometimes we just need to remove items from homes to make them more appealing and "tweak" what is left. This job is a good example of that I think. Somehow the bachelors find me online .... oh I just realized how that might sound!! Hopefully it's when they Google "home staging Portland." LOL
Small changes, big difference!
The angle on the bathroom shot made a huge difference, too. The changes you made should help get this one sold fast!
The current market should prove to be a boon for all stagers. Not that business will necessarily be great right now, but many will remember the results long after our dismal market is gone. Good work.
That faux fur throw spread over the bed was dismal. I am glad you had him put that away. Love the furniture placement in the living room - it really takes the eye to the fireplace and the view.
Wonderful work Maureen. Every room has been transformed to an eye pleasing space. It looks great!
Valerie ~ Sometimes those small changes really do help buyers being able to imagine living in a home -- thanks.
Jim & Maria ~ We hope so! It's priced reasonably and in a great location.
John ~ Thanks, let's hope it improves soon, for everyone's sake.
Kathy ~ The faux fur spread had to GO! Your feedback is appreciated.
Maureen, You did a fabulous job...it looks and feels VERY different. I especially loved what you did with the dining room!
Robyn ~ It's a good feeling when what we do can help a client's home look better, isn't it? Thanks for stopping by.
Carole ~ thanks very much for your generous comment. The dining space is hopefully more welcoming now.
Another great job, it's good to have a bachelor following, they usually, not always, but usually need the most help. Love the view too!
Cindy ~ I know you work with bachelors too ... they sometimes seem genuinely surprised at the changes, don't you think? I usually hear something like, "I wish I'd thought of doing that before ..."
You're at it again, Maureen! I especially like how you arranged the living room.
Kathy
Kathy ~ Thanks for your feedback on the living room. It didn't take long to make it look more open and to lead viewers to notice the view and the fireplace.
Hi Maureen, I love that print in the dining room...where did you pick that up???? You did a great job with everything...I'm sure it'll sell fast!
Nice work simplifying the space Maureen. Hope it sells quickly. You love those bachelors, huh? =)
Abby ~ That canvas in the dining room was discovered at Ross. Thanks for your comment!
David ~ LOL Well, let's say I love helping them!! See you & Nik soon at the RT.
Maureen- Well, this bachelor is not as clueless as some, but you definitely made improvements! LOVE what you did in the dining space, and now it should appeal to either gender!
Elaine ~ Thanks, as you know from your work with bachelors they sometimes just need some "tweaking" to make the spaces more gender-neutral.
Amazing work Maureen. Amazing what a few small touches in that master bedroom did to soften it up and make it appeal to women.
Annie ~ Thanks, the master bedroom was a bit too masculine with that faux fur throw! LOL just removing it brightened up the room too.
