Thanks to Kathy Nielsen for getting this started ~ it's been fun to check out everyone's great entries!
This home staging project was memorable because although this vacant vintage 1940 home in Portland Oregon had some interesting architectural features, for some reason the house just didn't come "alive" until it was staged .... does that ever happen on your staging projects?

The room is singing now...I am beautiful, Buy me!! Great job!!!
Really makes a huge difference. This sort of before and after should be prat of any realtor's portfolio to make a statement on the value of staging.
Thanks for sharing.
Great job staging the house! The house looks much better with the furniture and decor you selected. I like the piece of art on the wall on top of the fireplace. The added fireplace mantel is a nice touch.
It looks great, staging makes all the difference in the world to an empty home.
Maureen ~ I do know what you mean, and you certainly brought it to life. I love the scroll design in the area rug and the artwork. You made this a very inviting room to come into!
Great job Maureen. We've had a ton of success staging vacant homes, it make a all the difference in the world because most buyer don't have any vision. Happy New and once again, great job on this home.
Good job...nothing more uninteresting than an empty house...and potential buyers who really have a hard time envisioning the potential or the size of furniture..or placement....Best prosperous wishes to you !

Beautiful work Maureen -- makes me want to cozy up on that couch an start a fire! Warm and inviting -- a great favorite.

Ginger ~ You are too kind, and your input is much appreciated ... Happy New Year to you my friend!
Hi Maureen,
Congratulations on getting featured! Great staging, the house looks beautiful! Excellent testimony to why staging works!
Wouldn't it be great if AR would feature at least one stager's blog on each newsletter? I think it would help raise awareness for our industry. Anyway, keep up the great staging!
You've done it again Maureen! Not only is the staging beautiful, but the "after" pictures really show it in the best light...literally.
You have mastered the art of taking the most wonderful photos: perfect lighting and angles. We can all learn from the high standards that you set. Happy New Year, and Happy Staging!
Lovely lovely, some of my favorite color choices of all the ones I've seen. I just keep going back to it, so warm and inviting.
Nice! Staging has finally caught on ....it makes a house look lovely and the prospective buyer can visualize there furniture there.

Holly ~ Thanks for your enthusiastic comment! (I didn't know about the feature so thanks for bringing it to my attention.) Your idea about a daily staging feature is a great one .... why don't you suggest it to the A/R staff?
Peg ~ What a nice thing to say -- thank you! I'm always trying to improve with the photos, and in fact just got a new camera that I haven't tried yet. Hope to learn more about the photography aspect at our next RESA/ASHSR meeting -- see you there! Have a very Happy New Year!
Terrylynn ~ That is a pleasing color combination, isn't it? Thanks for stopping by ... and have a safe and Happy New Year!
Patricia ~ I think you're right ... staging is finally getting the exposure it deserves. Our goal is to let the potential buyer envision how they could live in the home. Thanks for your feedback!
Maureen, just splendid! Love the colors that you chose.. a bit of trendy with warmth. No wonder you are so great up there missy!
Lori ~ Hey there, hope you have a Happy New Year! Thanks for weighing in, glad you liked the color choices.
Maureen - I always like the clean lines of your staging. Very attractive.
Fred ~ Many thanks for your nice comment. Best wishes for a successful 2009!
Approx, what does staging like this cost? Is it based on sq ftg, and the time the home is staged? (i assume) thanks--btw, it looks great
Ray ~ Thanks for your comment and question. Most professional stagers charge a staging fee for the actual staging work, which is based on how many rooms are staged; the rental of the furnishings is a monthly cost. In this home, we staged the living room, dining room, family room, kitchen, main floor bathroom, and master bedroom and bathroom; also included in our service were our recommendations for cosmetic improvements. The total cost was very reasonable but varies from one geographical location to another -- if you'd like more detail just email me offline.
A real good job in the staging. A picture is worth a thousand words.
Maureen,
Beautiful home and great staging as always. The homeowner had to of been pleased.
Maureen,
This was a GREAT transformation! I can see why you chose this as your favorite. It really is a good Before and After story for your portfolio and will allow potential clients to see the quality and creativity you put into your work!
Mike ~ Thanks for stopping by, it's true that an online listing photo that appeals to a potential buyer means a lot more than an ad with text only, or a photo of a vacant room.
Trish ~ The homeowner was pleased .... and of course you know the rest of the story! :-) Happy New Year, hope to see you soon.
Michelle ~ Many thanks for your endorsement. I hope having the photo on my website will be helpful in attracting potential clients. Best wishes to you for a fantastic 2009!
Even though the picture above the fireplace is huge, it makes the fireplace pop. Great staging job. I have an empty house listing that has been sitting on the market forever so I called a local stager and hope I can convince my seller to stage. Thanks for the photos. I love seeing the befores and afters.
Kelsey ~ It's so good to hear that you (as a Realtor) are aware of the powerful benefits of staging and are sharing that knowledge with your sellers. Good luck and I hope that property sells quickly!
Maureen - it is always a joy to see a house come alive. It's amazing what staging can do to a vacant property, isn't it? Hope you had a great New Year. See you in a few weeks!
David ~ Each home staging project can seem like a miracle! Isn't the end result rewarding when you know you've helped your clients? Thanks for your positive feedback ... see you soon :-)
Wow, you're right about it coming alive. You did a great job.
Heather ~ It's good to see on your website that as a Realtor, you offer the option of home staging services to your clients -- it truly can make or break a sale. Thanks for your positive feedback!
Maureen, you are right that this house had very little appeal until you staged it. This house was just crying out to be staged and you did a beautiful job.
Kathy ~ As you know the house looked so appealing afterwards because of everyone's contributions ~ Thank you!
What a difference! The room is so much more inviting and the space is visually defined. I hope you have this before and after in your printed marketing materials! I love the piece of art over the mantle....is it Pier 1?
Tracy ~ thanks for your comment. The large wall decor is the Baroque piece from Pier 1, yes. It's large and really makes an impact. In this room it was necessary to balance the very large bay window directly across from it.
