We were recently hired to stage a 1924 vintage condo, one of 8 units in a building loaded with character. It's close-in location in the Irvington neighborhood in Portland, Oregon is ideal for shopping, great restaurants, and public transportation. Although this unit is just 965 sq ft., it seems larger. We asked the seller to describe the other seven owners in this building so that we could get an idea of the target buyer .... mostly professional women over 40. So we staged the condo to appeal to that buyer ...
Update: This condo has SOLD in less than 2 weeks from listing ~ and the buyer is exactly the demographic that we staged this home for (a professional woman over 40)!
The spacious Living room has original hardwood floors, crown moldings, charming touches like wainscoting and a gas fireplace with great mantle detail (we were asked not to use nails or hooks in the lathe & plaster walls so we had to "lean" the art, better to be safe than sorry!)...

The Dining room has original built-in cabinets with leaded glass doors adjoining an updated kitchen ...

The living room has a French door to a small Office space that could hold a writing desk ...

The Bedroom has multiple custom built-in storage cabinets with lots of storage ...

Sellers and Realtors ~ consult with a professional staging company to ensure that your property is staged to appeal to the target buyer of that particular home, not just to the "general public." By narrowing the demographics, we can zero in on who is likely to buy the home and thus market to that group. Remember that home staging as a marketing tool can help reduce market time.

Hi Maureen,
It looks great! I'm glad you included photos, I never get tired of looking at homes!
Michael
Maureen ~ You work with such architecturally interesting houses! I love the way you used an ottoman on the side of the chair and those cabinets in the dining room are gorgeous.
Maureen; very interesting concept of asking the sellers who else lives in the building, to identify the target buyer. I can't wait to see who ends up buying it! At the rate your staged homes sell, we should be getting the answer within a week or two!
Michael ~ Me too! I could look at photos of homes all day long and not get bored. Thanks for dropping by.
Kathy ~ We are very lucky here in Portland to have such diverse architectual styles. Those leaded glass doors in the dining room really are fabulous.
Peg ~ Thanks for your postiive feedback ... we'll have to see what happens. It's well-priced at just $259,900 and in such a great location. I'll keep you posted!
Maureen, Lovely! I could get lost in that master bedroom. It's so relaxing. Love the architectural style of the home also.
Donna ~ There's the cutest little gas fireplace in that bedroom (out of the range of these pictures). It adds even more charm to the home!
This looks like a very charming home that was enhanced greatly with your staging talent!!
Thanks Cathy. It was a rewarding staging project and we're hoping potential buyers find it appealing.
Your staging highlights the beautiful features/built ins of this home perfectly. I especially like the before and after of the master bedroom. The impact staging had on the built-in is amazing. You did a great job enhancing the property with the proper furniture selection and layout.
Maureen - you've worked your magic once again. It certainly did change this from a house to a home with your superb staging.
Congratulations. Your post is being featured in the group Staging Before & After Pictures.
Kathy
Maureen, Wow, what a beautiful job--and I know about leaning--until I can figure out exactly where I want pictures they lean. But the place looks fabulous and I love the charm of it which the staging really intensifed. I'd buy it, it's lovely!
what a wonderful job staging thi s portland home, looks warm, and inviting and a great sense of free and usable space - good luck
Michele ~ Those vintage-style built-ins are a wonderful feature of the bedroom, and staging did help to highlight them for buyers. Although they look original, the seller had them custom made.
Kathy ~ Many thanks. This was a fun project and we hope a smart buyer snaps it up!
Carole ~ Thanks for your enthusiastic feedback, it's much appreciated! The older buildings have so much charm, don't they? Like you, we always start by leaning the art, but then we're usually able to hang it. In this case we were requested not to but I hope it still looks OK.
James ~ Our goal was to showcase the space by not using all of it ... and so I appreciate your comment very much! Thanks for stopping by.
Beautiful work once again Maureen! Love the built-ins in the dining area!
Annie ~ The 1924-era homes have such beautiful woodwork details as well as leaded glass, that is cost-prohibitive today. Thank you for your opinion.
